This has really become an important part of my day. I never would have dreamed 9 months ago that I would look forward to walking 10,000 steps a day. I never would have dreamed that I would ride an elliptical daily. Even more, I never would have dreamed that I would OWN my own elliptical. This is part of my way of life now. It has become a habit and I look forward to my exercise daily. Tonight, I rode my elliptical while watching "The Biggest Loser." Normally, Tuesday night is a choir night, but it was cancelled tonight due to bad weather. I have been trying to wake up early to do my exercise, but if I fail to do so, I have been diligently getting my exercise in during the evening.
Daily exercise will need to continue to be a part of my journey if I want to remain successful.
Tuesday Tip of the Day
Something I am not good about is portion control. One trick that I have been trying to do is to put food on everyone's plates and leave the leftover food in the kitchen. I know a good tip at a restaurant is to get a leftover tray before even starting your meal, why not do the same at home. One helping and if the kids want more, it's available, but we need to get up and walk to the kitchen to get the second helping. I'm still working at this one, but I feel it will help with my portion control as well.

From the sound of it, exercise is a part of your daily life. That's great.
Your idea of leaving the food in the kitchen is a good one. Two more ideas you might have seen before are:
1. Use a smaller plate. It makes the food look like more.
2. This portion control card can be very helpful and a good reminder of what's what in portion control: http://hp2010.nhlbihin.net/portion/servingcard7.pdf
Your elliptical looks like fun and so handy having it in your home. I'll bet the kids are all over it. My grandkids love riding my bicycle...at least they keep it dusted!
We switched from soup/cereal bowls which held several cups to new ones that are about half as big. And I serve a lot of higher calorie foods on our bread plates rather than the 12" ones. I'm looking for new "dinner" plates that are smaller. But our salad bowls are much larger than they used to be!
Hey I was on an elliptical too during biggest loser, but I was at my gym and got distracted by the election results on msnbc
I always put the heavy meat course at the end of the table with D and the salad goes right in front of me. The starch and veggies all get passed.
And like Kathy, I make lots of veggies so those are the first choice for seconds. And leftover veggies make a great snack for my in the afternoon too.
How much longer til that baby is coming? Gotta do this vicariously you know!
Baby comes June 1.
Ultrasound on Monday.
