Friday Hodge Podge

FRIDAY FOODS

I don't go out of my way to buy Weight Watcher products normally, but they have come out with a few new flavors of yogurt. My new favorite has become Amaretto Cheesecake. Apparently, I am not the only one to find this new flavor as it has been sold out every time I've checked at my local grocery store. I did manage to get my hands on some recently and will continue to keep my eyes open for this flavor. There are other new flavors including Cherry Cheesecake and Boston Cream Pie, but I was not impressed by the Cherry Cheesecake and for some reason, brown yogurt just did not appeal to me as this was the color of the Boston Cream Pie.

AT WORK WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE

Wowsers! I was very worried about making it to my 6 pound goal for my Weight Loss Challenge because on Tuesday when I sneaked a peak at work, I was still 3 pounds away from my goal. I didn't think not eating breakfast would have such an impact, but that's what I did yesterday. I didn't eat or drink anything from 6:00pm Wednesday till the time I weighed in (10:30am) on Thursday. I was completely taken by surprise when I weighed in at 184! I needed to weigh 188 on the scale to reach my goal and I easily surpassed my goal. At the time I weighed in, only 6 people had reached their goal, so we should be receiving a nice little check soon :)

WEIGHT WATCHER TRAINING
Last night, I completed my training as a receptionist. It's amazing how many people came to sign up for WW last night. There were 8 new members at the first meeting. My mentor told me that this usually does happen when word of the free registration spreads. Free registration for Weight Watchers ends tomorrow. I felt much more comfortable this week and did not feel rushed and nervous like I did last week. There are definitely certain steps that need to be followed when checking someone out, like you must weigh in before purchasing items unless you go through a few extra steps. I am excited to start for real a week from Wednesday. Today, I received my name tag in the mail, so I will look like an official employee rather than a trainee.

I Cancelled my Weight Watcher Monthly Pass

I am now a Weight Watcher employee.

Too bad I did it a few days too late. Went online to cancel it, but I'm paid through March. I think I should be able to get reimbursed after I hit lifetime in two weeks or after I complain enough. Weight Watchers employees receive etools as a benefit, which would be all I needed after reaching lifetime.

Today, was my first day of training to become a Weight Watcher staff. I learned the ins and outs of processing members. Ugh! The CHAMP system is the computer system used. It's an acronym meaning something to do with membership processing, can't remember what the CHA stands for. Anyway, it did go well and I got to sneak in an extra weigh in this week as I had to send in some paperwork and one of the requirements was an updated weigh in. I lost what I gained plus a pound. Must have been a fluke weigh in on Thursday.

I thought I knew enough about computers and I probably do, but the examples given in the training made me feel like I was back in grade school doing word problems: If member X pays with a monthly pass, buys two packs of Chocolate Carmel bars, and a Jan/Feb Magazine, how do you figure out the transaction? It definitely showed me that the receptionists and leaders have a lot to worry about and should be appreciated more than they are.

I will be writing a thank you card out and giving one to the receptionist and my leader at my regular meeting, if I ever get back. My wife has informed me that I may miss this week as well.

Happy Saturday, enjoy the Daytona 500 as I will be back at another WW training session tomorrow. Learning more about inputting membership data while it snows another 7-12 inches. At this point, I'm hoping that we get another 30 inches so we can be the snowiest winter in Wisconsin history. So far, 73 inches and in 13th place. After another 7 inches we'll jump into 4th place.

Benefits of being Fat

There was an interesting thread started on the GOAD board today. Benefits of being fat caught my eye and got me thinking about things that have changed since I've lost 75 pounds. A few things that stand out are that I am always cold now and my butt does not have nearly as much cushion anymore. Neither one of these changes are welcome changes, but I will live with them as long as I can stay at a healthy weight. Another comment that struck me was the topic of wrinkles and whether or not losing weight makes you look younger. Personally, I think I look older since I can see more wrinkles and my pudgy baby face checks have disappeared.

Are there any benefits to being fat that stand out to you?
