Hot Diggity, Dog Diggity, Boom!

Yesterday, I took a group of 20 residents/staff/volunteers to the Brewer Game. Initially, we were set to tailgate, but because of parking concerns we opted to bring as much of our lunch in with us, which the Brewers are so nice to let us do and get hot dogs once we got settled. I often help in the dining room at the nursing home, so I know there is always a lot of wasted food. Yesterday, our stadium hot dogs were a success. Everyone polished them off, including myself. It was the first time that I really wanted a hot dog in over a year. Last week, for our school open house, I feasted on a hot dog for the first time in well over a year. That was because it was the only dinner offered. At the ballpark, I could have gotten lots of healthier choices, but this is a lifestyle and I don't want to deprive myself of a stadium hot dog if that's what I want.

It was the most delicious hot dog I have ever tasted. And you know what? I ate it slow. I savored each bite as I knew THIS would be something that I regularly do not eat. Maybe that's my key. Eat food that I really want, not food just to eat food. Unfortunately, the Brewers stunk up the joint, but we enjoyed the game and the hot dogs just as well.

How much fun was that! I think the ONLY time to eat a hot dog is in a setting like that...they are the best when they are mixed with open air and fun! I praise you mightily for having the ability to eat a hot dog slowly! That is really hard.

I thought that would be a double go of it and they pull out a win too...but I guess not. Silly Mets screwing things up like that (are they still playing the Mets??).

One minute their nice to let you bring in your lunches and the next they're stinking up the place. You are funny! Looks like you've learned something from your young ones and applied it. They'd be proud of you I'm sure. Have you told them what you learned from them? Of course you can always tell me it's none of my business too. :)

You've gotta splurge once in a while - that stadium dog sounds mighty tasty. I'm wanting one right now - and I just had breakfast a little bit ago!

Good for you for making the most of your seeming annual hot dog!

Wow...that sounds like so much fun! Hot dogs are something I include in my life now and then as well. I prefer the not so healthy ones to the healthy ones :( Savoring each bite is the key. Once again, there's that word...moderation! I'm glad you got to enjoy one of life's simple pleasures with so many friends.

thats how I do it.

or try anyway.

I strive not to eat things simply to avoiding hurting people's feelings (think me and carrot cake. ick but my sister made a big one :)) and to SAVOR and enjoy the treats in my diet.

i am glad that half gallon of snickers custard is gone!! now maybe i can give up those 300 calories worth of icecream.. and my 460 calorie frappacinos now that i am back to work.. but man, i was HUNGRY at dinner tonight.. it really makes a difference when you are used to be home and 'snacking' all day long.. even if it is a handful of chips here and there.. i am glad you enjoyed you hot day!!

You managed to eat only one? Good for you - that would be my downfall, I can't stop at one hot dog.

Savouring food appears to be key to the stopping at one business.
