What's on your stick?

Chocolate covered bacon on a stick

Each year, our state fair has a different craze on a stick and this year, bacon makes the splash into chocolate. I am intrigued by the concept as I love sweet and salty, but I've heard that the bacon is rather chewy and not so crunchy. They're estimating that over 80,000 orders of bacon on a stick will be consumed during the 10 day run of the Wisconsin State Fair. I was at the fair yesterday and didn't look to hard to find it, but I'll be back a few more times before the end of the run including a trip to the Demi Lovato concert on Sunday. Not sure why my daughter picked me over her mother to go, but I have a feeling it has something to do with Daddy being a softy when it comes to buying stuff and Mommy would never buy her anything at the fair and just take in the concert.

Busy weekend here. Weight Watchers is getting a new computer system so I'll be working all 4 meetings tomorrow. Afterwards, we'll be ditching the kids to head 2 1/2 hours North for a wedding. Back in the late night and off to a dinner party Sunday before putting the earplugs in to mute all the tweenie screams at the concert.

More on the bacon when I actually get close enough for a picture.

I think there must be a marketing group that comes up with these treats for the fairs each year because they arrive in all of them at the same time...each more bizarre than the last. I love PayDay candy bars for their sweet and salty nature and our family loves those little sausages wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar and baked for about 20 minutes or so. I think I can live without the chocolate.

OMFG I love the STATE FAIR. I think Minnesota is just as fat as we have some weird concoctions ourselves on sticks. Like Fried pickles and crocodile.

When it comes to fairs, I think the best thing on a stick is not on a stick at all. It's on a cob. :)

I don't think the US state fair marketers have come to Canada because (as far as I know) our fair food is boring -- typical stuff & the highlight is "cotton candy". Seriously, I've only heard of these "treats" in the US.

Enjoy (or try to enjoy...)

We get all of that cr*p at all of the street festivals in the Bay Area. There are always long lines, too, despite the 'health food' reputation of San Francisco and environs!

Hope CHAMP3 launches okay -- we just started last week here!
