Fat Tuesday

I did have ONE punchki/paczki and accounted for it. I counted 10 points for it and I am glad that I had it because otherwise I would be have eaten tons of other stuff before finally giving into having one in the end anyway. That is something that I have struggled with and have finally realized works for me. If I just face the music and eat something I am craving or in this case, just plain want, I am much better off than if I try to avoid it. In the past, I would have settled for a cookie or a piece of chocolate just to go back a little while later to have the doughnut...and I probably wouldn't stop at one. I'd go back and eat more junk and look to see if there were any doughnuts left and if there were any left, I'd stop for another one. I was definitely thinking today and I am confident that I did the right thing and made the better choice. Had I avoided the punchki, I would have wanted it more and more.

Enjoy the picture, poor Alex saw his two sisters dressing up and decided he needed to join in. He marched right upstairs and brought this nightie to his mother and started pulling off his clothes. Oh dear! We can only hope this next one is a boy so Alex will not have to play "dress-up" any longer. Ultrasound was yesterday, but since my wife did not want to find out what is, I decided not to find out either. It was too tough to keep the secret from her and everyone else last time.

Good post and perfect for me to read today. Some temptations can be accommidated. I learned that today. Dang those M&Ms but they are sure delicious.

How cute is that??? You know he will kill you later for posting that picture!

I truly believe there should be no foods that are off-limits unless you have personally determined from past experience that eating just one will lead to an uncontrollable eating episode. Sounds like you handled the situation well.

HA! Cute, cute pic! I have to admit that I put a lace bonnet on our DS when he was born -- had to get it out of my system! LOL At least I didn't take a pic! Funny, but we have lots of dress-up clothes here and when our girls babysit boys, they always, always choose the frilly dresses and heels to wear! It's true! Better under age 5 than after age 20 I guess! LOL

Oh yeh, glad I missed Fat Tuesday -- never heard of it (thankfully). And I've never seen punchkies (or whatever they're called!) Looks fattening. Sometimes I'm glad that I have a good excuse not to eat gluten... ;) D

I think I need to spend some time with my Godson when I'm home!!! :) I noticed the same thing with cravings...if I "give in" right away I'll eat MUCH less!

TOO cute!!! At that age he just doesn't want to be left out at all-even if it means wearing a pink and purple nightgown!!!

Glad you handled the day well. Sometimes it's just better to have what you really want and savor every last bite than try to find a replacement that never satisfies you.

I'm starting to notice a pattern with Alex's dressing habits. It was just a few days earlier that I saw him looking very stylish in one of my shirts. :)

Didn't know Alex looked so good in purple!! Gotta love him. Joel pretty much did the same thing with his four older sisters. He played with a lot of Barbie dolls, too. Wonderful photo!!
