20 Platters of Christmas Cookies

Imagine every different kind of Christmas cookie possible and multiply it by 20. That's how many cookies sat in front of me at the annual Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Tea this afternoon. I know it's a bit early for Christmas cookies, but our Auxiliary always throws this event during their November meeting since they do not have a meeting in December. There were so many cookies and I decided to dance with a few residents instead of feeding into the temptations of all the Auxiliary Ladies. They come around to each table at least four times trying really hard to stuff everyone full of Holiday Treats. I am so proud of myself for resisting the cry of the cookies and don't feel deprived at all because it is WAY to early for Christmas cookies.

Now if I can only lay off the eggnog. I checked in the store last week and it seems that a 1/2 cup of eggnog is close to 5 points. Last year, I was chugging that stuff without hesitation a good 3 cups at a time. Thinking first this year. I'm the only one in the house that likes it, so I don't think it will be worth it. If I get any it will be the Silk brand for about 2 points each 1/2 cup, but I hate to drink away my points. If there's no chewing involved, it doesn't seem worth it to me.

I LOVE egg nog too, but I only allow myself a little bit (1") in a cup. I've made my own before -- check online for low cal, even WW's homemade eggnog recipes. They're pretty good. I might find some & post them. Oh and egg nog icecream takes longer to eat and relieves my egg nog craving. D

P.S. And about the cookies, no advice there, but not being able to eat gluten (AKA NO COOKIES!) has made my life easier. But I wouldn't advise that... ;) D

I'll bet those residents were so thrilled to dance with you...I know my mom would have loved that!
Cookies are only a threat to me when they are hot from the oven...it's the smell that gets me.
Just awareness alone will probably serve you well with the eggnog thing and Dee is right that there are lots of other ways to get that flavor without all the calories.
