Challenges

At work lately, I've been noticing that I am doing the same activities over and over. This is a great way to create a set routine, but after a while, doing exercises to "Hoop De Doo" and "Mambo" gets a bit repetitive. Routines are great ways to get into a zone food-wise, but exercise-wise is another story. I have other exercise routines to do at work, just get comfortable with the same 5 songs. So, my goal for next week will be to practice a new exercise routine that I can do with my residents.

As I have already mentioned, I started the push up challenge and I am also going to start my own sit-up challenge to work together with the 100 push-up challenge. You're welcome to try yourself. I am going to use the push-up program and just switch it to sit-ups. Yesterday i started Day 1 of my sit-up challenge. I actually found it much easier to do sit-ups than it is to do push-ups. Today, I will rest from the sit-ups and start Week 2 of the Push-Up Challenge.

Routines are a great way to reach a goal, but now that I am maintaining, I need a bigger challenge. I am amazed at my Sister-In-Law, who just completed a 1/2 triatholon. I'm not quite sure if that is the sort of challenge I am looking for, but I do need something to keep me interested. So after the push up/sit up challenge, I'll be looking for bigger and better challenges.

So, I need to get back to the healthy food routine as today, I snacked on a few too many brownies and peanut butter cookies. On bad thing about Flex is that you can eat these not so healthy foods and still stay with in your points. 2 brownies and 4 peanut butter cookies should not be my lunch on a daily basis. I still got some work to do!

Good points...I think we just have to keep reminding ourselves that our goal is to not only lose extra weight but to also become healthier and there's probably no question that brownies and peanut butter cookies are not the healthy choice on a daily basis.

I could never lose on WW when I used the flex points. My problem with WW was that I used all my points up with cake and icecream and stuff and as long as I stayed within my points I reasoned it was okay. Goodness, Im glad I left that mindset behind!

Brownies and peanut butter cookies would use up way too many of my precious points. Also, there's no way that I could eat just two of the first and four of the second unless they were huge.

I can see how when a person reaches a maintenance level, they would need a challenge or to change things up from time to time as to not get stuck in a ruck or let the mind and body get too comfy. I am willing to bet most of your residents will be very accepting of something new as well :)

I could see myself doing the same thing with brownies/cookies! I have to keep reminding myself.....it isn't always about the number of calories I am consuming rather than the quality of the food I am putting into my body for fuel. At least you recognize the situation before it becomes a problem.

I love your honesty. I won't eat peanut butter cookies because I don't know that I could stop at 4.

Never been accused of honesty, stupidity maybe ;)

I'm thinking I'll just do the same thing with the situps - if it works for pushups it should work for situps too.
