Happy Groundhog Day!!

Do you ever feel like you're eating the same food everyday? How do you get yourself out of the "boredom" phase?

I have to be honest, while I was losing my weight, I never felt bored. I always made the better choices, not always the best, but I never felt deprived and I was always eating something different. It is now that I am at home everyday that I am starting to feel I eat the same thing everyday.

This is not particularly a bad thing because I tend to eat lots of fruits and veggies, but it's always the same ones over and over again. I have eaten the same breakfast for well over a year, and have eaten the same snacks too.

I still don't feel bored, but have just observed my "Groundhog" habits lately. Probably won't change my ways, but I will become more aware of more eating habits and try to put a little variety in place so I don't become bored.

And I'll glad everyday is not Groundhog Day or I would never be able to celebrate my birthday!!

I find that there is a certain comfort to routine. I tend to eat the same stuff for quite a while then change to something similar but different when I desire a change.

I totally think it's okay to eat the same things...especially at lunch and breakfast. If what you are eating is nutritionally balanced, why mess with it ;)?

I agree that if you like what you are eating and it's healthful, why change? If you feel yourself getting bored maybe try one new fruit or veggie a week? You could even pick it with the kids and make it an adventure.

I buy what's on sale so I'm always mixing things up. I used to eat more of the same thing when I worked outside the home and was carrying stuff to eat. I feel I have more freedom now that I can walk from the desk to the kitchen any time I please.

If you enjoy it, why change it :)

Im with suzi. I can so easily get into a rut as I try and keep my daughters diet jazzed up and exciting :)

the only bad thing is that if one misses something (a nutrient) and you eat the same way all the time you miss it, well, all the time!

HI :) You asked in your comment what I got at Starbucks ;) I love all of it.....but the nonfat lattes are very yummy! Yesterday I had a small salad, steak and 2 sides of steamed veggies at Applebees.....skipping potatoes and dessert so I could have a splurge later. I got the Tall Tazo Green Tea Frappucini---it was yummy! Later when I checked out the nutritional stats, I saw that I could have had about 100 calories less and 8 g less of fat (that's the big one...wish the had FF whipped topping) if I left off the whip cream........but like I said it was a splurge.....we only do this like once every 2 months. Hubby got Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino Blended Crème. That was good too. It was 70 here yesterday so we felt more like a cool drink. You can go to the starbucks site and click on nutrition and look over their drinks.....they even show pics and find out the stats for sizes and with and without whipped creme. Next time I will have something chosen ahead of time :) We didn't go in because I didn't want to see pastries and muffins ;)

It's really important to mix up the foods we eat! First of all, our ancestors were nomadic and ate seasonally - resulting in anywhere from 200-300 different foods consumed over the period of a year. Second, if you eat the same foods over and over, you can develop an allergy to them because your body gets overloaded and irritated. The internet is a great resource for getting ideas for new recipes.
