My Tracking Plan

I've been working with a substitute leader for the last week as my regular leader is off on a cruise. She gave me a challenge as I told her I have been struggling in the evening. I do so well until after supper and then I just eat hog wild. In WW terms, I eat at less 10-15 points AFTER supper. Unfortunately, I don't have 10-15 points to play with after supper, so something has to change.

I have a three month journal, but the last time I wrote anything in it was March 1. Unfortunately, I usually track well from breakfast to lunch and then by 4:00 I stop writing stuff down. My challenge this week will be to skip the writing process in the morning and lunchtime and focus on 4:00 and beyond. I do well all day as I treat my day like a "workday" and rarely stop for a snack. It's after the girls come home from school that continues to haunt me.

My new leader friend, suggested that I eat one food after supper. Whatever I pick needs to be a "filling food" and I can eat as much as I need. This will be a challenge as I've been grabbing different things to satisfy myself. All healthy snacks, but the points still wrack up!! So this week, when I reach for the evening snack I will be conscious of what I want to eat. I will eat one thing and eat as much as I need to satisfy my snacking habit.

I'm hoping this new tracking system of only writing down from 4:00 on and snacking on one food after supper have a positive influence on me because I am longing for a little success.

The idea of eating only one thing is interesting. I know I can occasionally get into a "munchie" mood in the evenings. I get something and eat it, realize it isn't what I wanted and go looking for something else. The calories add up quickly! I think I'll try that idea next time the munchies hit.

That sounds like a great plan. I don't have trouble in the evening cause I can't eat then and sleep,but I do want to nibble between lunch and the time my hubby comes home so I just may give it a try myself!

This may sound a little boring but have you tried Metamucil after dinner? It fills me up and I seriously could not eat..........hey and it's good for your heart too :)

I could eat all night too. I find that it's usually because I'm more thirsty than hungry. If I drink a big glass of water, I'm usually better. I still have a snack, dont get me wrong. But instead of 1/2 a pint of ice cream or 1/2 pan of brownies, I can eat a "normal" portion. It's actually a common problem with a lot of people. I find I'm thirsty at night because I don't have much time all day to get my fluids!!

Hopw you can get your evening eating under control soon. For me, with eating 6 times a day, I usually have my last food item around 6:30 pm and its usually yogurt with fruit and kashi golean crunch or ff ice cream...

I know I don't eat in the evening cause I'm hungry. I do it out of habit.
