Terms of Endearment

I always hated it when anyone called my "Big Guy." I'm not sure what the equivalent for ladies would be, but when I hear Big Guy, it always reminded me that I was too big. I never thought I looked 100 pounds overweight, but when I heard the comment, I felt it. I didn't think it would bother me nearly as much when someone would call me skinny, and I was finally able to hear it today. "Hey Slim!" someone shouted from the distance. I had never met this person before in my life and was definitely not thinking he was referring to me. He was looking for directions within the facility that I work in and had no other way of getting my attention. I really was taken aback and had to do a double-take to realize he was speaking to me. "Hey Slim!" is definitely a term of endearment that has never been used to describe me. I still have not gotten past the point of being called "Big Guy." Even though, I am at a healthy weight now, I still expect people to turn around and yell it as loud as they can, "HEY BIG GUY!" I am so happy to be no longer referred to as the "Big Guy."

Though I don't recall being called "Big Guy," do I remember me walking out of the place where I work, and the security guard commenting, "You've really put on a lot of weight!" My thought was, gee, thanks for the clue-in, buddy.

One of my mates called me 'chubs'. God it grated. But no more!

Wow I'd love that.

chubby, chubby chick...funny, the names grate, but I can't remember them all to list them...maybe I've blocked them in my brain!!! There was an '80s song that said "rolly, polly, little fat-faced girl" and it sticks in my head. No one has called me that, but I've felt like that before...maybe more lies that I've believed. I was told more than once that I had a fat bum, but it isn't true at all. No it isn't flat, but it isn't big either. Too bad I believed it. It led to an eating problem. Grrr.

Love your posts -- good to check in here again. Congrats on your anniv. I love the 'what row you sit in' story -- I seemed to always sit beside the person who lost lots of weight when I was at WW's -- I'd lose .8 and they'd lose 4 lbs. It was very, very frustrating. I was consistent, but it took me forever. I'd probably do better now that my gluten problem has been figured out, but I don't have the $ to go. Trying to do it on my own -- I know I can, I just have to DO IT!!

How's baby? Gotta check the baby blog out again -- haven't been online as much. D
