Where Do You Sit?

I was at church this morning and started thinking about the correlation between where we sit and our weight loss success. I know I really should be concentrating on the priest, but it's so nice to have that 1:1 time with yourself sometimes. Well anyway, I started thinking about the Weight Watcher meeting room and how there are 3 rows. It seems that those "prove-it-to-me" people sit in the back row. These are the people that are still not quite sure about whether the program will work or not. Ashamed to be there and distrusting. Prove to me that this program will work and I will move closer and start trusting more. This is exactly the spot that I have sat in and still continue to sit in. The back row is where those people that are not quite sure about it yet. Then there's the middle row. It seems the middle row is for those "know-it-all" people that have been in the meetings paying their dues for several years and complaining about not losing weight fast enough. They are comfortable in the meeting and know everyone and how much everyone has lost even if it's not their business. One of the reasons I sit in the back row is because I don't want to become one of these "know-it-alls." Oh, the front row! Does anyone sit in the front row? There are very few people that sit in the front row, but the ones that sit in the front row seem to be those "I'll-do-it-myself" people. These people don't want to have the support of other members and only listen to the leader. They seem to try to lose on their own more than listening to others.

So who are you? Are you a "prove-it-to me", a "know-it-all", or a "I'll-do-it-myself." My guess is that many of us are still in the "prove-it-to me" row even if we are in maintenance. I love the people in my row and won't be moving for a while.

Remember my contest! It ends on the 18th.

Definitely on the back row!

Hmmm...I normally sit in the middle row. I don't really feel like I fit in any of the three options outlined. I'm definitely past the "prove it to me" and "I'll do it on my own" stages. I know I need the support and that the WW plan works.

So, as for sitting in the middle row, I don't really think I'm a know-it-all. I sit there so I can better hear the comments of others. Whenever I feel like I'm not losing as quickly as I would like, I only have to look back at my food journal and see why. It's either full of poorer food choices or, even worse, is completely blank. I'm going to have to give that "know-it-all" concept some thought.

Great question and I certainly identify with this one. I was always the middle row person...I never wanted to call attention to myself...just wanted to blend in. I feel MUCH freer to express myself on my blog than in a meeting.

Never done WW but I suspect I would have been a do it myselfer.

I can't comment on this subject because I've never done WW. By nature I'm a front row person, don't want to miss a thing.

Anyway, the reason I'm here on your blog; I read about you on Workout Mommy and was so proud of you. Just wanted to stop by and say congrats and tell you I love your blog.
Best to you and cheers
Robin

I'm usually in the front row 'cause I don't want to have to peer between other people's heads. Maybe if I was taller, I'd check out the vibe in the other rows.

I have a Big Ben also, only much much older.

Congratulations on getting rid of the lbs.

I find myself here on your blog after being amused by your comment on Martha's blog.

I mean Kathy's blog.

I would suspect a do-it-myself mentality, but I kind of correlated this to where I sit in church, and realized I never sit in the same spot twice in a row...so I guess maybe I'd be all three!

I'm a middle row gal, much like Kathy, I always just want to blend in, in the first or last row, I might "stick out".
