Portion Control

I hate going to the bathroom at work. Why? Portion control.

There are new soap dispensers that have been installed at my work. Each time, I go to the bathroom, which is often since I drink so much water, I am alloted one squirt of soap foam. I actually cheat and stick my hands under again to get another squirt. Then, I put my hands under the sink and get my alloted "20 seconds" of water. I usually again stick my hands under to get more water. After soaking my hands I reach towards the paper towel and get exactly 12 inches of thin paper towel. Before the paper towel comes out, I automatically reach for more.

After doing this for the past month, this week I decided to follow the guidelines. One squirt of soap, one 20 second washing, and one square foot of paper towel. You know what? My hands were clean and dry afterwards.

Portion control is one of the toughest obstacles I face. I'm definitely a "Bigger is Better" type of person. Deals for me are what drives me: 3 for $1.00 or bulk packages are what I look for. This week, I feasted on Chicken Strips at work. I really only wanted one, but they were 3 for $1.00 and the cafeteria worker would not let me just get one. Of course I ate them since I paid for them. This is definitely my biggest problem area right now and something that I will be focusing more on.

I am glad that my work put in new faucets, soap dispensers and power paper towel dispensers as it got me to think again about portion control.

I know what you mean...if I order roast beef at a restaurant, I tend to eat and be satisfied with a serving whether it's 3 ounces or 6...I don't feel any differently for eating twice as much. Portion control really can be hard to master...even with healthy foods!

I think portion control is my biggest weekness. I just don't get full so I tend to add more and more food.

You mean to tell me we're supposed to control our portions? Are you serious? :)

I really am trying harder to work on doing more frequent mini-meals so I can learn to control my portions. Some days it's really hard especially at dinner when I'm really not that hungry anyway. I don't know why it's so hard. Maybe because the whole family is eating and it's more social? I have to eat really slow and drink lots of water or I go overboard. Since dinner is dangerous for me, if I didn't have a family to cook for, I would probably eat one last mini meal about 4 and then just not eat again the rest of the day.

Portion control is a huge issue for most people these days----I think that has more to do with the obesity rates than anything. We do need to be aware of it ....thanks for reminding ;)

I think you will find every one of us that reads probably has problems with portion control, afterall, that's probably how we all got overweight right?

Myself, I am definitely a bigger is better person, why get a normal size when I can biggie size it for 25 cents!

I'm getting better with this now, If I want honey roasted peanuts, I have no problem paying 1.00 for a single serving rather than paying just a bit more 8 servings, I would rather pay a bit more than be overweight again! And I totally know if I bring the 8 servings into the house, I'm gonna eat them all!

I hope you are joking about work rationing how much soap, water and towels you can use. How about TP?
