What's Blue and White and Read All Over?

My family has been having the best time walking through our neighborhood this fall. Not only are the colors stunning this year, but my 2nd grader and 4Ker?? are having the best time reading. Reading on a family walk? What are they reading you ask? The "every-four-year-national-reading-program-without-really-meaning-to-be-a-reading-program": political yard signs. Caryn, my 4 year-old, has been pointing out every McCain sign along our route. I'm not sure if she's got the symbol down or recognizes the "C" as part of her name, but every time we see one, she shouts "MCCAIN!!" Not to be biased, she's also yelling out "OBAMA!!" each time we see his appropriate sign too. It's been quite fun to walk and find signs. We try not to get too involved in politics even though we know who we'll be voting for, but it sure is fun to watch our kids get excited about reading and walking. They've been looking forward to our walks and usually like to go down the same streets because they know there are tons of signs along the way.

I needed to read this as Im kinda SICKTOHERE about it all.

Im with you and know for whom Im voting and some days it seems that it's just gonna get more and more ugly.
that we should just vote today!

now I shall think of your children when I see the myriad signs...

There's a conspicuous absence of signs in the Indianapolis area. I'm not sure what that means. I've been told that McCain can't afford them and Obama doesn't believe in them. But I got a call from my daughter this morning to tell me that my granddaughter, Audrey, had a "discussion" about politics at the daycare center yesterday with two little girls before school. She told them that the fella their Mom was going to vote for "needed all the votes he could get!" and the other guy was the best choice cause her grandma said so and she is a smart lady! OUCH!!! I doubt if I was that inspired by Ike!

as we walked home from Church Sunday, my 7 yr old commented on the "Jerry Greene" sign on a yard........they are everywhere. This one happened to be on very green grass and he suggested the man change his campaign to "Very Greene".............the wisdom of our youth ;)

Nope...Indiana is definitely a battleground state! We were during the primary as well. Maybe I just don't get to the right neighborhoods!

I'm sick of all the US election stuff too, and I don't even live there! LOL

I remember taking our kids out to read signs just to prove to them that they COULD read!

Homemade applesauce is awesome! D
