Changing up Exercise

My new job has it's benefits and drawbacks. Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks is not getting nearly enough steps in daily. I have not had a day over 10,000 this month. Even yesterday with a long afternoon walk with the stroller, I only got to 8,000. So, I've been finding different ways to exercise at home. The other day while Alex was napping, I flipped on the Biggest Loser from this week and saw their "step challenge." The contestants who were eliminated were invited back into the game. The first person to 1000 steps won. Needless to say, I grabbed the footstool from the kitchen and stepped right along with them. Can't tell you that I made it to 1000, but by the end of the show, I was feeling it and still today, I feel my calves more than normal.

Another cool exercise I've been doing with little Alex is the "On Demand" exercise. We switched from DirecTV to Time Warner in September and I have enjoyed this cool exercise feature. I usually try to do the family fit exercise with Alex and if we make it 10-15 minutes twice a day, that's a great workout. Alex, of course, has a strict routine and if we exercise, immediately afterwards we haul the Karaoke out for a few songs. Then it's snack time and bike riding time. This kid's definitely got a routine!

Thanks for your comments re: nursing homes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Home #2 wasn't as impressive this morning. It was nice, but not as nice or clean as home #1. I would feel comfortable having mom there, but not 100% like yesterdays, although this one is closer than the other one (5 minute drive vs. 10-15 minute drive). D

Exercising with the kids is the best. Good for you.

And you're setting such a good example for those kids!

Thanks for your comment the other day. I am not at liberty to discuss the details but what I can tell you is that it was a little secret between God and me. Thanks for being obedient to write about it. You must have felt somewhat hesitant to mention it. I know sometimes I feel rather sheepish when it comes to things like that. To help you understand and to encourage you though, it was a little thing that meant a lot.

it is tough to find time when you are home with little ones, isn't it? I have found that the stairs have become my exercise buddy lately.

and lunges. One can never do enough lunges. :)
